It had been 3 weeks since I landed on that one way into BGK, I didnt know what I left London looking for, but I seemed to have found something in Koh Yao Noi.
Upon further reflection, It was the first place I had gotten to where I was able to actually just, slow down.
My memory seems to be hazy on my specific thoughts and feelings but I've attached my diary entry from 04/02/2022 below:
Got to Koh Yao Noi today and less than 24 hours in it is my favourite place so far. Took a 30 minute speed boat over from Ao Nang and the change of pace is perfect. Decided to skip the 5 minute 50 baht taxi and go for the 30 minute walk in the sun to offset the cost of an ice cream/ a kilo of washing but I got picked up for free half way along the road by a pickup going in the same direction.
Waited for Asr and went down 2 minutes down the road to the mosque where we were 5 strong including the imaam, they were happy to see me regardless, even got a lift down to the local restaurant where I paid 60 baht for a a massaman from aunty.
Got a moped for sunset and on my way to the sunset bar I drove past a game of football, decided to go back and got some of my favourite photos of the trip
Observation: Sometimes that U-turn on a moped, in the name of being inquisitive, really does pay off (Im thinking about the free coconut I got given on Koh Phangan).
Decided to go on a drive to another beach and whilst trying to capture another part for this film of mine... (redacted).
I have so much more to say about this Island and my time here, but for now, I hope you enjoy a video I made that I was supposed to put out the day I made it, I guess 2 and a half years later is better than never...
The creation of this video was an exercise in living in the present. I was spending too much time lying around on my laptop editing in Lightroom, whilst on the other side of the world, on a tropical island. I just wanted to take photos and vibe, perfection wasn't the goal, enjoyment was (and still is).
