Small prints, honest notes.
The idea
A Quieter Companion
Featured prints are the main event — the image on the wall, the one that holds a room.
Marginalia is what a photographer would write in the margin if you handed them a pen. A smaller print, A5, unframed, on a textured uncoated stock that feels closer to paper than to a gallery wall — something you'd hold rather than hang.
Each one carries a note. Not a caption — something closer to a diary entry, in whatever form the artist chooses: a few honest lines, a half-formed thought, a poem that didn't need finishing, or the story itself, written in their own hand.
It isn't the best shot from the trip. It's the one that was still on their mind after
Three ways to leave a note
01
A typed story
A short piece of writing — a few paragraphs on what was happening when the shutter went.
02
A musing, or a poem
Looser, freeform — a line of verse or a passing thought, set beside the image.
03
A handwritten note
Scanned in the artist's own hand — the most literal marginalia of all, inset alongside the print.
